In the heart of its own, 3,000-acre private conservancy – beside Amboseli National Park, one of Kenya’s richest game areas – award-winning Tawi Lodge combines unpretentious comfort, subtle accents of style and traditional East African hospitality.

The eco-lodge and its cottages sprawl along the edge of dry acacia woodland, with Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro looming memorably above. Elephants often pass right by, allowing close absorption into their secret lives from the safety of each cottage’s deck.

Designed to be ‘elegantly rustic’, most of those richly-appointed cottages also afford incredible views toward Kilimanjaro. Along with private decks, they all have large, snug four-poster beds.

  • The land leased for the lodge directly benefits local land-owners and their families
  • Only the local community are employed, with many receiving valuable training
  • Tawi Lodge sponsors in full four students to attend secondary school, and also assists with projects at the local community school.
  • Where possible, most supplies are purchased from nearby townships.
