Perfect for discerning travellers, Richard’s River Camp offers a luxury tented base in the very heart of the Maasai Mara.

Dreamily situated on the seasonal Njageteck River’s banks in the private Mara North Conservancy, the camp has been designed with seclusion, exclusivity and adventure equally in mind. As well as ensuring a permanent water supply, the nearby Ngoyanai Springs attract an array of animals to the surrounding area. In particular, Richard’s River Camp is known for its resident lion pride – whose members are often seen hunting in front of the camp, and whose males can always be heard roaring at night.

Comprising just seven tents, this camp is ideal for single travellers or exclusive groups wishing to experience the Mara in intimate fashion. It’s also beautifully appointed, with furnishings and fabrics collected by co-owner Liz Roberts on her travels helping to forge a contemporary ‘Out of Africa’ vibe.

Perfect privacy and amazing exclusivity in the Maasai Mara

  • For three generations, the Roberts family has played an integral role in Kenyan conservation. In 2011, Richard and Liz founded the Mara Elephant Project, which is instrumental in mitigating human-wildlife conflict and preventing poaching through the collaring, monitoring and tracking of elephants. With a dedicated team, it is achieving great results; visit facebook.com/MaraElephantProject for the most recent updates.
