Located beside a dry river with sweeping views of the rugged Matthews mountain range, family-friendly, Kalepo is a private, luxury tented camp offering exclusive usage of 390,000 acres straddling both sides of those peaks. It sits in the heart of northern Kenya’s ancient Samburuland region, where people and wildlife still co-exist as they have done for centuries.

From authentic kijijis (Samburu villages) to incredible elephant herds, and from classic ‘singing wells’ to soaring mountains, Kalepo is the perfect location from which to explore the wonderful diversity of Kenya’s so-called ‘Big North’.

  • Kalepo is a project which consists of an exclusive-use luxury safari camp in an area where wildlife and the community are in need of sustainable conservation. This location has been hand-picked in the northern part of the Namunyak Conservancy in Northern Kenya. This is a truly wild corner of Africa; completely unfenced and untamed, where wildlife and pastoralist tribes co-exist as they have done for centuries. It’s funded by a group of like-minded individuals who are conservation driven and would like to facilitate the preservation of an ecosystem and the expansion of wildlife habitat consisting of several threatened wildlife species. Under the governance of the Northern Rangelands Trust (NRT) they will provide long-term income to the local community thereby improving their livelihoods and infrastructure.
